You have read it many times that you should promote your blogs on social networks to expand your reader base. But, have you really tried doing so? Chances are, you tried and gave up within a day or two. That’s because getting popular on social networks and brining users in large numbers to your profile page requires months of consistent activity (read energy and time).
In this blog, I will suggest a solution that requires you to spend only 3 hours a week to reach users across all popular social networks – Facebook, MySpace, Orkut, Hi5, Bebo, and Friendster.
There are two new developments make this possible. You are already aware of the first one - All popular social networks have opened their platforms for third party applications providing an opportunity to reach a large user base. However, creating applications still requires a lot of time, resources and skills (programming).
The second development is a social applications engine by Corners, on which you create, publish, host and manage applications for all social networks – Absolutely free of cost. “Corners.in is doing to social app publishing, what blogger.com did to blog publishing”.
Okay, so what you may ask? Does it still not require me to learn about applications, programming, database etc.?
Absolutely not! At Corners, you write and publish applications without writing a line of code. Corner engine is architected intelligently to separate technology from content. You assemble content for one or more topics (each topic is called as a corner). After creating a corner on a given topic, you use a built in search-engine to search and add relevant videos and pictures from internet. You add other content such as opinions, blogs, discussions, events, news.
Next, you publish your corner as application on all popular social networks. Users have created more than 400 applications on topics such as "Chris Jackson", "Scenic Byways of America", "Greatest footballers", "Dark Knight", "Miley Cyrus", "Travel India" etc.
And how does creating an application help promote by blog? What’s the connection?
There are many connection points provided to help promote your blog and most importantly to help connect you with your target audience.
First, you can add link to your blogs as a review content. As a creator of the application, you are allowed to make your opinion “sticky”. A sticky opinion always stays at the top. Thus users of your application will not miss your blog.
Second, you can add interesting information and links to your developer’s profile. The developers profile is accessible to all users of the application.
Third, corners provides a feature called “chirp” through which any user can send a short message to any other user of the application across the boundaries of social networks. This helps extend your social reach. If you create a popular application, you are to get popular and get many friend requests.
Fourth and most important – When you add a content, either from Corners or from the application on any social network, it gets published to the corresponding applications across all social networks. Thus if you write a review on MySpace, the review is immediately available on corresponding application on Hi5, Facebook etc. This is really powerful. Once you have created and published your applications for all social networks, you can manage your applications without logging into any of the social networks.
I will take one more question! Do applications really bring users?
Yes they do! A recently hit application called "Tom and Jerry" was created on Corners in less than 30 minutes. It saw 200,000 installations in just 4 weeks.
